Sarah Gregory is an employment lawyer and partner with Baker McKenzie. Sarah became the firm’s first dedicated Inclusion & Diversity Partner in 2014 and now also has responsibility for CSR and Pro-bono, overseeing the delivery of the Firm’s strategy in London.
Since Sarah’s appointment, Baker McKenzie has been named as a Top Ten employer in Stonewall’s Workplace Equality Index, featured as a Top 15 Employer in the Social Mobility Index as well as being contextual recruitment pioneers. In 2017, we launched our HeForShe campaign aligned to the UN Women programme, created a positive environment to engage in ‘Colour Brave’ discussions as well as being named as a BITC Best Employer for Race. We’ve won numerous awards as individuals and for the Firm including, Best UK Employer for Women in EuroMoney’s European Women in Business Law Awards and named as the Global Trade & Customs Compliance Law Firm of the Year at the Women in Compliance Awards 2018. Sarah has been instrumental in embedding the Firm’s approach to agile working and has overseen a range of initiatives aimed at improving the representation of women in leadership roles and is a champion of our global bAgile initiative.
Baker McKenzie is widely recognised for its focus on ethnicity and race. The Firm’s work to address concerns around BAME representation in its trainee cohort a decade ago has had a lasting impact. Today 22% of the firm’s junior associates identify as BAME. Our employee annual survey results demonstrate our inclusion approach is having an impact, as 90% of those who responded, agree that Baker McKenzie London, “values diversity and inclusion in its workforce”.
